Clearing the log messages on a managed device makes it easier for the appliance to identify new messages since last poll. If the log is not cleared, the entire log would have to be checked against existing collected messages to make sure nothing is duplicated. This takes more time as the log on the device gets bigger. If this delay is acceptable, you can disable log clearing with the config device logging command. Set Clear device log buffer on poll to no.
